Commercial Director
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial Director to join the executive leadership team of an outstanding group of schools.
The successful candidate will be have experience driving strategic growth and enhancing financial performance within a similar company or education group. The ideal candidate will possess extensive executive experience in greenfield projects, new school developments, and financial management, with a strong focus on optimizing revenue and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement a comprehensive commercial strategy to drive growth in the education sector, ensuring alignment with overall organizational objectives.
Lead initiatives for greenfield projects and new school developments, ensuring successful execution from planning through to operational launch.
Financial Management:
Oversee all aspects of school finance, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Develop and maintain financial models for revenue estimation and costing models for new projects and business lines.
Performance Measurement:
Analyze and evaluate Return on Equity (RoE) and Return on Capital Employed (ROCE) to assess financial performance and inform strategic decisions.
Implement Management Information Systems (MIS) for effective performance tracking and reporting.
Market and Industry Analysis:
Conduct market research and benchmarking against industry standards to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
Collaborate with internal teams to create innovative educational programs that meet market demands.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including school leaders, regulatory bodies, and potential partners to enhance collaboration and service offerings.
Present proposals and strategic plans to the executive team.
Operational Excellence:
Ensure operational systems and processes are in place to support strategic initiatives and drive efficiency across the organization.
Monitor business performance, utilizing data-driven insights to inform adjustments to strategy and operations.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Support professional development initiatives to enhance the skills and capabilities of team members.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior management role, with significant experience in the education sector or related industries.
Proven track record of managing greenfield projects and new school developments.
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong financial acumen, with expertise in financial modeling, revenue estimation, and costing models.
In-depth understanding of school finance, including RoE and ROCE metrics.
Proficiency in implementing MIS reporting systems and utilizing data for strategic decision-making.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Ability to analyze complex business challenges and devise effective solutions.
Strong leadership capabilities, with a collaborative approach to team management and stakeholder engagement.
